That Hurt

Well, I’m better now, but talk about feeling like a wrung-out dish rag, I’m still feeling a little unsteady on my feet. I’m going to try to get the Dobos torte finished today, but try not to hold it against me if a nap takes precedence. This is the second year in a row I’ve had the flu, and before that I can’t remember the last time — probably back when I was in college. The great irony, of course, is that the last two years are the only years of my life I’ve ever had flu shots (guilted into them by our pediatrician). Now people who know me know I’m no proponent of alternative…well, anythings. However it does seem like a pretty weird coincidence. I may skip the shot next year…I certainly couldn’t do any worse that I’ve done in the 2010 and 2011 seasons!

Thanks to everyone who sent well-wishes. They worked!

  1. Glad you’re feeling better! I had the flu just after Christmas, and the fever totally kicked me to the curb. Rest up.

    1. Ugh, are you right. The real live flu is something you don’t want, that’s for sure. People talk about getting “a touch of the flu”, but from what my doctor was telling me, there’s really no such thing. The flu lasts a least a week, comes with a fever and knocks you down hard. Like I said…it hurt. Thanks for the very kind sentiment! – Joe
