Given the technical breakdown of the last week, it's taken me a while to get around to my penultimate photograph. However you can see that even using simple powdered sugar-and-water icings, the home baker can produce some pretty darn nice cookies. This is not to say the simple approach doesn't have a few drawbacks. Note some of the color bleeding that sometimes occurs where the brown or green comes into contact with a yellow or an orange. This has less to do with the colors themselves than with the amount of pigment I mixed into the icing I made. A lighter brown would probably not have intruded noticeably into the green of the apple, nor would a lighter green have bled into the orange of the pumpkin. These are really quibbles, however, because I can tell you that cookies this bright and cheerful are a giant hit with kids.
