So let me get this straight…
The most exciting food fad at the Los Angeles Times this week is high-end chefs going “down market” and opening their own fast food restaurants. Yet the Los Angeles City Council is about to pass an ordinance to ban fast food restaurants. How’s that going to play out when Paul Bocuse tries to open one of his fancy L’Ouest hash joints in West Hollywood? Will his restaurant be forced to adhere to a speed limit? Or maybe the absence of hamburgers on the menu will be enough to avoid the ire of city council. Perhaps the fact that you won’t be able to afford anything for under $10? What criteria will the city use, I wonder, to prevent burger places from opening, while still giving the wealthy foodies of L.A. what they want?
