Back and Bewildered
Hey all, I seem to be plagued by one problem after another this fall/winter. Due to some apparent host problems I haven’t been able to access the site for the last four days. I haven’t even been able to see it from the front end most of that time, so I don’t know if it’s been up or down. Hopefully the problem is fixed now. Let me know if you’re noticing any technical issues. Assuming the comments reach me I’ll try to tend to them.
Welcome back! I didn’t notice any downtime while you were gone, and I attributed the lack of posts to the holiday, so from your readers’ perspective, everything seemed normal.
Well that’s good at least. Thanks, Hans!

I’ve been unable to open it from my phone (Android). On computer site worked just fine.
Thanks, Antuanete. I’ve heard that from other users the last few months. As soon as my developer gets back from a long trip to Europe I plan to put her to work on a new device-responsive version of the site!
Cheers,

Suuuuuure blame the computer. You’re allowed time off you don’t need to make excuses. 😀
Enjoy the time off, try not to stress & always remember: computers are here to make your life easier
Yeah, sure. If I see that same server error message again I’m going to chuck my desktop machine at that wall. Not that it’s got anything to do with the problem of course. But four days is a record. I haven’t had these sorts of accessibility problems since I started six years ago. Meantime, the baking goes on…

Could be a DNS routing problem – I myself have not had any problems but if you can’t then somewhere along the way the connection must not be getting through, I’d check with the ISP since several have not had any problem with the site 🙂
(Or google the exact server error you get)
That’s a good thought, Kitty. I appreciate it!

Clowncast (now Xfinity to try and hide) has had severe sporadic DNS issues for years. The trick is to set your DNS server address to 8.8.8.8, which is googles & never fails. Its free & legal. Now I would guess that you buy your server space so you probably can;t do that but for personal machines its a good idea.
Oooooh…nice idea, Frankly! I’ll try that when I get the chance.
Cheers,
– Joe
