Pumpkin Pie the Old Fashioned Way
When I posted on the history of pumpkin pie a couple of weeks ago, I secretly wondered if any readers out there would be tempted to make pumpkin “pie” in a pumpkin this Thanksgiving. It turns out there was at least one — reader Gwyneth! She writes:
Your writeup the other day about pumpkin pudding inspired me to bake my Thanksgiving pumpkin pie in a pumpkin shell. It was alot of fun and turned out really well. I used kabocha squash for the filling in a sugar pumpkin shell, it took a while to set and I was happy with the results.
Fascinating. Thanks so much for the pictures and the email, Gwyneth! And very well done!
That looks amazing! Major props to Gwyneth 🙂
