I told you earlier that I was feeling particularly “Kentucky” this weekend. The other big reason is that I was inducted into the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels on Saturday. But before you start thinking that I’d somehow earned this distinction (through, say, distinguished military service), you should be aware that the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels is basically just a social/civic group, sort of like the Shriners or the Elks. Still, ever since we moved to Kentucky six years ago I’ve been dying to become one. As far as I know there aren’t any major obligations that come with the designation. I’m not sure that there are many privileges either, save to say I’m now free to launch my own global fried chicken empire whenever I feel like it.
