Joe’s Derby Pick

There are so many terrific names in this year’s Derby: Summer Bird, Dunkirk, and what about I Want Revenge? I should have named one of my daughters that! However, given what I’ve been blogging about these past two weeks, how can I not go with Chocolate Candy? At 20-1 he’s by no means the most unlikely pick in the field. However a woman I know who has real experience in these matters says General Quarters is the horse to beat. Granted she’s completely blind and also senile (not the horse, the source), but in her day she was a professional odds maker and horse picker. Were I not honor-bound to go with Chocolate Candy, I’d be inclined to trust her instincts.
