Moth-Proofing
My good friend Sally C. from Tip of the Iceberg writes in with this piece of advice for all those who live in fear of the dreaded pantry moth:
Keep your flour (or cornmeal, whatever) in the freezer to keep the moths from hatching. Far as I know that doesn’t affect it at all. Never has mine, anyway. I learned this years ago at the nursing home. And, since I never bake and hence never use up my flour, it has served me well.
I still can’t figure out why this woman reads me. But no, freezing certainly won’t affect the quality of your flour, just be sure to put it in an airtight container or freezer bag to keep it from absorbing odors. Thank Sally!
